I just bought a couple of bracelets from Bryan Stow's family. Bryan is the SF Giants fan who was savagely attacked in L.A. at the Dodgers home opener vs the Giants. His family has set up a blog and a donation account to help his family with medical expenses. I wish him a speedy recovery.
It's a black eye for the Dodgers organization that they didn't immediately offer to take care of Bryan's uncovered medical expenses and provide funds for his family to stay in LA during his hospitalization.
In fact make that two black eyes. This episode killed forever the illusion that today's baseball is still that "grand old game" of the past.
I'm from Alabama and am intimately familiar with the categorization of anyone considered "the other" because of team loyalty...the Alabama vs. Auburn rivalry has caused family members and best friends not to speak for years.
This guy came off sounding so callous about the incident. A black-eye for the Dodgers organization indeed.
"It is extremely unfortunate that this incident took place on what was otherwise a great day at Dodger Stadium..." said Josh Rawitch, the Dodgers' vice president of communications.

ReplyDeleteThe donation Email above looks legit based on everything I've read, so I allowed it to be published.
